I work as a unix system administrator and research programmer.
Linux,
OSX-server,
FreeBSD,
and Windows are the operating systems I'm in charge of. With
the exception of
Windows
and poorly documented Apple/OSX, I have to say that I enjoy my job. Due to high
quality coding by the authors of following software:
GNU toolchain,
Linux kernel,
Debian,
FreeBSD,
Perl,
Qmail,
djbDNS (aka Tinydns),
OpenSSH,
Rsync,
Apache
and Mason,
my work is almost easy ;)
At work I'm in charge of Dual Opteron 250's with 4GB ram, sata raid-5 and
10G-LR nics, and Dual Xeon-HT with scsi raid-5, and 1Gb NICs.
Our home network includes P3/800 GNU/Linux Debian workstation, P3/1000
GNU/Linux Debian file server, G3/800 Apple OSX Server iBook and an
Athlon64/3000+ Windows XP workstation.
