I found my new programming language to focus on: Gleam1. I like to deep dive and learn new tools in depth, always looking for general purpose tools and ones scalable enough to be reasonably efficient to use for a wide range of applications. Gleam1 is my new language of choice for writing internal tools, daemons and backend::frontend code. You too can try it at tour.gleam.run.

This weekend I went on a four hour 145 mile loop through mountains and valleys with the return leg on highways. For most of the ride, it was 35C (95F). While moving, the mesh jacket and pants did a good job, but my helmet didn’t. It only allows for vizor fully closed, unlocked with a tiny gap or fully open. Anything in-between doesn’t stay in position. I fixed it by designing a vizor lock.

To ensure my Motorcycle Navigator stays charged and has power to run at maximum brightness, I installed a marine-grade USB charger near the handlebars. It uses leads running across the frame, under the tank, and tapping into the headlights fuse in the fuse-box. This ensures it runs only when key is turned and doesn’t drain the battery otherwise.
